need empty stomach b4 eating shrooms?

Is it ok to eat shrooms with food? Does it lessen the effects? Should you take the shrooms, then eat? Or vice versa? Should you be even eating at all?

Eating lessens the effect, but I prefer to have eaten a few hours earlier. Otherwise I feel empty halfway the trip.
